- The rock band Cheap Trick’s original lineup consisted of Robin Zander, Rick Nielsen, Tom Petersson, and Bun E. Carlos back when they formed in 1974.
- “I Want You To Want Me” was originally recorded for the 1977 album In Color. The song was poorly received and didn’t even chart. The band members themselves admit that the arrangement and production were a bit on the lackluster side.
- However, this soon-to-be favorite became a sensation when it was reworked, and the live version from a concert in Tokyo in 1978 was recorded and released. This time, the high energy and upbeat lyrics made it to the Top 10 in 1979.
- Today, almost everyone has heard this crowd-pleasing bop, and it remains a consistent radio jam and well-loved pick at bars and events the world over.
